The Challenge

Cascade operated 12 different patient-facing digital tools — each built by a different vendor, each with its own authentication system. Patients were frustrated, staff were overwhelmed, and the IT team was spending 80% of their time maintaining integrations instead of building new capabilities.

Our Approach

We mapped every patient journey across all 12 systems, identified the 4 core workflows that covered 90% of interactions, and designed a phased consolidation strategy. Rather than a risky big-bang migration, we built an API gateway that unified authentication and gradually migrated functionality into a single responsive web application.

The Results

Over 14 months, patient satisfaction scores increased from 3.2 to 4.6 out of 5. Support tickets dropped by 62%. The IT team reclaimed 3,000 hours annually. The project came in 8% under budget, and the API gateway architecture has since been adopted by two other health networks in the region.
